Welcome to The Lost Collection Gallery.
Living in the Baltimore/Washington DC area during the late 60’s and early 70’s, there were major venues and all the emerging names in rock wanted to perform there. It began by my simply talking my way in. I combined my love of photography with a passion for music, especially rock in that era. Processing all my own photographs, shooting only with available light.
The music industry grew beyond the "fun" period for me and in 1973 I put the camera down. And so, the negatives and transparencies sat, in storage, for over three decades. Late in 2005 (35th Anniversary of The Rolling Stones return to Baltimore) I began printing some of my images and discovered that to be the first step to making them available to be seen, and then, to buyers and collectors.
The LOST COLLECTION includes many premier artists and groups from that era. In some cases, many, many shots were taken during a performance (The Rolling Stones, 10 Days Before Altamont). Others include a March ’68 performance by The Jimi Hendrix Experience at the Hilton Hotel in Washington, DC and then, later that year outdoors in Columbia, MD. I captured rare moments on film: Janis Joplin, The DOORS, The WHO, Rod Stewart & Faces, Led Zeppelin, Jeff Beck, Neil Young and other legends.
If you have a personal favorite from that era (1967-1973), please email me at michael@classicrockiconphotos.com
Virtually all the images have never been seen or published.
EACH ORIGINAL 16" x 20" IMAGE, Crafted with Silver Alloy processing is printed on Kodak Endura paper. Every image is limited. Only 50 prints of each photograph will ever be produced. Every limited edition print is numbered, performance dated and signed by the photographer. Shipping is 7-10 days.
